Supermodel Bella Hadid has admitted that she regrets having a nose job as a teenager. Decorating the cover of the April issue of American Vogue, the supermodel said she regrets not going under the knife at 14.

“I wish I could keep the nose of my ancestors,” she said. “I think I would have grown up to him.”

The magazine wrote that Hadid was accused of undergoing numerous other procedures, but the 25-year-old denies this.

“People always have something to say, but I have to say that I have always been misunderstood in my industry and people around me.”

Hadid opened up about her mental health in an Instagram post last November. Along with a series of tearful selfies, she wrote: “I’ve had enough breakdowns and burnouts to know this: if you work hard enough on yourself while spending time alone to understand your traumas, triggers, joys and routines, you will always be able to understand or learn more about your own pain and how to deal with it.”

A new interview with Vogue details the “burnout” Hadid says she experienced last year, which led her to a treatment program that included medication and talk therapy. “There were people online saying, ‘You are living this amazing life,’” she said. “Then how can I complain? I have always felt that I have no right to complain, which means that I have no right to get help, which was my first problem.”

While she hints at “multiple childhood traumas,” it’s clear that the pressures of working in the fashion industry have taken a toll on her.

“I had girls on my lap crying at me at 4 am, still on fitting for the show when they were supposed to be at another show at 7 am,” she said. “Completely destroyed, hair burned, nothing to eat, emaciated to the point of shaking.”

Hadid acknowledges that progress has been made in recent years, but there is still more to be done as “fashion can make you or break you.”

She told Vogue: “Finally girls are getting up about sample sizes, but when I first started seven years ago, I couldn’t fit into Saint Laurent. And I remember the stylist talking about my weight because I couldn’t zip up.

“Looking back, I think so, because Saint Laurent’s runway sample size didn’t suit anyone. But then you think there’s something wrong with you and no one around you says, “No, no, it’s okay, don’t worry, it’s a small size.”

Hadid, daughter of real estate developer Mohamed Hadid and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Yolanda Hadid, also spoke of unfavorable comparisons to her sister, model Gigi Hadid.

“I was an ugly sister. I was a brunette. I wasn’t as cool as Gigi and I wasn’t as outgoing,” she said. “And, unfortunately, when you are told something so many times, you just believe it. I always ask myself, as a girl with incredible insecurities, anxiety, depression, body image problems, food problems, who hates being touched, who has a lot of social anxiety – what was I doing getting into this business? But over the years I have become a good actress.”
