Susanna Reid storms off GMB set while raging at staff

Susanna Reid ‘storms off GMB set while raging at staff over series of embarrassing mistakes’

Susanna Reid is said to have stormed off the set of Good Morning Britain this week after a series of clashes with the show’s production team.

The 52-year-old broadcaster reportedly made “her feelings very clear” when she allegedly yelled “angrily” at the production staff after they made a series of mistakes.

Misspellings, wrong dates and graphical misdesigns have slipped through live broadcasts of the show in recent weeks, reportedly embarrassing the host.

Among the errors was an incident where news correspondent Ben Chapman’s name was misspelled during his live broadcast from Romania.

When Ranvir Singh presented the segment, she introduced Ben for his section – with his name appearing on screen as ‘Ben Champan’.

In another incident, GMB broadcast a segment paying tribute to the death of Lisa Marie Presley, with the word “Remembering” also misspelled on screen as the graphic read: “Remebering”.

And that’s not all, because one morning the wrong date was displayed when Susanna was hosting the show.

A source reportedly told The Sun: “You [Susanna] made her feelings very clear and yelled furiously that the mistakes made her and the whole show look stupid – as she stormed off camera and confronted the production staff.

“Susanna is absolutely professional and only wants high standards – as Piers [Morgan] or any other moderator would have done it. The last thing anyone wants is for her to walk away angry,” they added.

The channel co-hosted the show with Piers Morgan before his departure in 2021.

And since then, she’s been joined by a slew of co-hosts – including Richard Madeley and Robert Rinder.

Susanna doesn’t appear to be the only one upset by the gaffes, as some viewers took to Twitter during the morning shows live to highlight GMB’s mistakes.

When they made a poster for rugby player Levi Simeon Davis, who went missing in October 2022, many noticed the wrong year was printed on the graphic.

“@gmb your missing Levi poster has an incorrect date on it – says October 2023,” wrote one viewer.

When Susanna was giving a presentation one morning, the wrong date was displayed

Moderator Richard Madeley misinterpreted Sam Smith addressing the pronouns “they/they”.

While another advised: “Your poster shown on this morning’s news for the missing man is incorrect, check the date it shows October 2023 #GMB.”

Good Morning Britain also got into hot water last week, but this time it was a verbal error by presenter Richard – rather than a typo.

The moderator apologized for the misnomer of Sam Smith’s gender, bypassing the pronouns she/they.

Richard was debating whether Sam’s latest music video for ‘I’m Not Here To Make Friends’ was overly sexualized when the slip happened – where he accidentally referred to her as ‘him’.

Co-host Susanna was quick to correct his mistake – Richard then apologized.

And while a panel was discussing the video, Richard told guest Shivani Dave that they “had a point” and they informed him that they also use she/them pronouns.

Richard apologized a second time and said: “I’m so sorry. I’ll learn to do that.’

Shivani later tweeted: “I’ve had messages from people concerned about Richard Madley miscoding me on @GMB

“I corrected him, he apologized and took it on board. A master class on how to do things when you screw up, we shared a thumbs up and I told him his hair looks great.

Susanna, who grew up in Croydon and studied broadcast journalism, got her big break as a presenter on BBC Breakfast from 2003 to 2014 with the late Bill Turnbull before joining Good Morning Britain in 2014.

There she famously had the unenviable task of saying a word alongside Piers Morgan until he abruptly left in March 2021 after making comments about the Duchess of Sussex.

Since then there has no longer been a permanent male anchor, but a changing line-up with Richard Madeley, Martin Lewis, Ed Balls and Rob Rinder.

Susanna’s on-air leggings

While Susanna is often praised for keeping her composure during live broadcasts, there have been incidents in the past where she has let her emotions run free.

Earlier in the week, Susanna launched a savage attack on former Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

The host asked him if his affair with aide Gina Coladangelo actually broke the law, and continued questioning him about lockdown laws at the time when he tried to change the subject.

She was praised by viewers, who took to Twitter to brand the interview as a “master class” for all aspiring political journalists.

In November this morning, Susanna launched a devastating attack on a Just Stop Oil spokesman after the group again halted traffic on the M25 by climbing bridges at several junctions.

When the group’s spokesman claimed that the media was not covering the events effectively, Susanna began to rant passionately, telling him, “You have no idea what this program is doing… And you have the audacity to come here and say, we are completely distracted and don’t talk about the problems?

‘We talk about her every morning, son.’

In 2021, Susanna remained unimpressed when her then-co-host Alastair Campbell told her to “feel his wrinkled apples” while passionately ranting about a substandard Ocado delivery.

Susanna appeared calm as the former Labor Party press strategist ranted about the state of his fruit, which the food company blamed on a lack of pickers, truck drivers and CO2.

The presenter was also famous for her amusing clashes with former co-host Piers Morgan, with the pair notoriously disagreeing on numerous occasions.

Bizarre: While Susanna is often praised for keeping her composure during live broadcasts, there have been incidents in the past where she has let her emotions run wild.
