The Tunisian arrested in Tervuren, Belgium, is accused of murder and attempted murder
Belgian authorities have arrested a man linked to the terrorist attack in Brussels ten days ago. The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Thursday that an arrest warrant had been issued for a 44-year-old Tunisian man for murder and attempted murder in a terrorist context. The man is also accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization.
According to the report, he was detained on Wednesday in Tervuren, Belgium. Prosecutors initially confirmed only a possible connection to the weapon used in the Oct. 16 attack.
Two Swedish fans were killed last week in an attack on the sidelines of a European Football Championship qualifier between Belgium and Sweden. The Islamic terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the crime. The Tunisian attacker was shot dead by police a day later. According to Italian authorities, it was known since 2016 that he was Islamic. (APA)
