SUV crashes in Houston Denny’s horror accident on Labor Day, injuring 23 people aged 12 to 60: The 30-year-old driver is being investigated
A driver plowed his SUV through the wall of a busy East Texas restaurant, injuring 23 people in a shocking Labor Day crash.
Police in the Houston suburb of Rosenberg, Texas, began receiving calls around 11:22 a.m. about a maroon Jeep SUV crashing into the Denny’s.
The chain’s location was right on the Southwest Freeway
The vehicle crashed into the south wall of the restaurant, leaving patrons with injuries ranging from minor cuts to “serious injuries” that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said in a statement.
The victims ranged in age from 12 to 60, although one woman told ABC13 her parents, ages 75 and 79, were also injured.

Officials said all of the injured were conscious when they were transported to area hospitals.
There were reportedly people in the emergency room being treated for their injuries in the hours after the accident.
The driver of the SUV – believed to be around 30 years old – was not injured and is currently being investigated, police said. The cause of the crash was not immediately announced.
“The driver has not been arrested at this time, but charges may be filed at a later date if the outcome of the ongoing investigation is appropriate,” police said.
“The investigation into the cause of the accident is currently ongoing,” they added in a statement.
Video of the aftermath shows a red vehicle completely inside the restaurant, with the wall and windows around it destroyed.
A photo released by Rosenberg police showed the vehicle completely inside the restaurant, surrounded by debris.
Several lanes of the Southwest Freeway were closed while police investigated the scene.

Rosenberg is approximately 35 miles west of downtown Houston.
