“Three’s Company” star Suzanne Somers has died at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer. It was the day before her 77th birthday.
One of the most famous sitcom stars of the ’70s and ’80s, Somers was also known for her starring role on the ABC series Step By Step, where she played a single mother opposite Dallas alum Patrick Duffy.
Her publicist confirmed Sunday that she succumbed to her illness – an aggressive form of breast cancer that occurred more than 23 years ago – while surrounded by family at her home in California.
However, the affliction wasn’t the actress’ first bout with the disease – something she revealed last July that she had been dealing with long before her break as Chrissy Snow on the popular show, which also aired on ABC had to fight.
She leaves behind her husband Alan and their son Bruce, who had already gathered at the house in anticipation of Somer’s birthday.
