Sydney Sweeney reveals she was bitten by a 'trained' spider on film set: 'I thought I was going to die' s

Sydney Sweeney takes her role as Madame Web a little too seriously.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Euphoria star revealed that she was bitten by a spider on the set of her new romantic comedy Anyone But You.

“They told me it was trained,” Sweeney said of the arachnid. “I don’t know how to train a damn spider. There is no possibility.”

In the scene in question, Sweeney's character finds a giant huntsman spider in Glen Powell's character's underwear. While filming the scene, the spider became nervous.

“So, we're filming, and then this thing starts to bite me,” Sweeney said. “But we're in the middle of the scene and I was supposed to be screaming, but then my screaming got a little more serious. They thought I was making really serious dramatic decisions in a romantic comedy. This is a disaster for every actor out there. It was terrible. So no one cut it. So I’m just standing there with this spider on my arm biting me and I’m screaming and everyone’s watching.”

Fortunately, Glen Powell comes with great responsibility.

“Glen was the only one who said, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa.' I think that’s a little bit real and we had to cut back,” Sweeney said.

Fallon then showed the audience an official report written by the doctor on the film's set, who jokingly wrote: “First aid – Sydney Sweeney (cast) bitten by a spider, now Spiderwoman.”

Sweeney said the crew knew absolutely nothing about their next project, Sony's Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web, which stars actress Julia Carpenter, also known as Spider-Woman.

After showing the outtake of the spider bite clip, Sweeney said: “It was like a scream of the soul. I thought I was going to die. Well, I thought, 'It's poisonous.' I'm going to die.'”

“Anyoney But You” hits theaters on December 22nd. Madame Web hits the big screen on February 14th.
