And on Tuesday the 37-year-old revealed the empty shelves as panic shoppers packed their shopping trolleys after residents were warned to “prepare for isolation”.

The presenter shared a video on Instagram with stories of empty shelves as he walked through a supermarket.

“We stand ready to bring you live coverage from our team of reporters and authorities,” she wrote.

Cyclone Jasper continues to move towards the Queensland coast, most likely between Cape Flattery and Cardwell.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the chance of a severe Category 3 impact remained “low”.

The storm is expected to bring damaging winds and heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding – and there are now fears of a tidal wave.

A Watch and Act notice has been served on the Cairns region warning residents to prepare for isolation before Tuesday afternoon.

“Very strong winds and heavy rain from Tropical Cyclone Jasper may cause damage across the Cairns region,” the statement said.

“This could shut down roads for several days. “If roads are closed, help may not be able to reach you quickly.”

The city of Port Douglas has also been identified as a potential “red zone” in the event of significant tidal wave impacts from the cyclone.
