Symbolic bar: Pizza Salvatoré reaches $100 million in sales

The Quebec company Pizza Salvatoré is proud to have broken into the big league with sales that exceeded the symbolic mark of $100 million in its latest financial results.

“The Quebec chain is moving from the status of an SME to that of a large company,” the third-generation family business said in a press release on Thursday.

Founded in Saint-Georges in 1964, the group specializing in the delivery of pizzas and poutines has experienced rapid growth since it was purchased by the founder’s grandchildren in 2018.

The Quebec company grew from 14 restaurants to a network that now has 73 outlets and 2,600 employees.

This is despite COVID-19, labor shortages and disrupted supply chains.

Multiplied by 12

“Managing growth is certainly exciting, but it also brings with it a number of impressive challenges,” notes Élisabeth Abbatiello, co-owner with her four brothers and sisters.

In less than five years, sales have increased 12-fold, from $10 million to over $120 million, she claims.

“We are undoubtedly fortunate to have a team on our side that, like us, is motivated by challenges and results-oriented,” she continues.

The expansion phase only began in 2020, the company recalls.

Given the pandemic, the company had no choice but to revise its business model, which was based on 50% all-you-can-eat buffets and was one of the first victims of the health measures.

To stay afloat, the group pivoted its concept to delivery and take-away counters.

“The siblings have always kept an eye on the sales volume per store to ensure that the health of the chain is never compromised. “The quality of restaurant operations has always been strictly monitored,” is how the company explains its success.

Offer rejected

The brand clearly doesn’t lack ambition as it claims to have “one of the fastest” growth in the fast food sector in Canada.

In a profile of the brand published on our pages last March, the chain boasted of having two openings per month since March 2021.

In particular, we learned that the Abbatiello family was approached by a large group who wanted to buy their pizzerias, which they refused. Before them, their father had also received an offer from Pizza Hut.
