DSM 72 u1 - Synology DSM 7.2 Update 1: the first official update

Synology DSM 7.2-64570 Update1

After DSM 7.2-64561 and DSM 7.2-64570, Synology is back with a first major official update. If we look at the changelog, DSM 7.2-64570 Update 1 contains only two fixes:

  • Btrfs volumes may fail to run Volume Optimization successfully.
  • Disk swapping might not work correctly for SHR storage groups.

If you’re using the Btrfs file system and/or an SHR storage group, you get it… this update needs to be done.

Download and install DSM 7.2

As a reminder, DSM can automatically judge whether your Synology NAS needs this update. It’s like antibiotics, it’s not systematic… However, if you want to have the latest version of DSM 7.2 Update 1, you need to browse the official archive page and download the PAT file that corresponds to your NAS. The file is about 25 MB in size. Next, log in to the DSM admin interface, then go to Control Panel > Update and Restore and click the button Manual update of the DSM and press the button to finish search. Select the previously downloaded file and click the OK button. All you have to do is wait less than 10 minutes for the NAS to reboot.
