Damascus, 31.07. (Prensa Latina) At the request of the government of this Arab nation, units of the army and armed forces, in cooperation with the Russian armed forces operating in Syria, conducted military exercises that are considered the largest of their kind.
Images released by the Ministry of Defense showed the use of tactical and ballistic missiles, fighter-bombers, attack helicopters, artillery, rocket launchers and other means of fire, including modern anti-aircraft systems.
The exercises, led by General Suheil al-Hassan, commander of the 25th Special Troops Division, were attended by the Chief of the General Staff Abdul Karim Ibrahim, the commander of the Russian forces operating in Syria Alexander Chaiko, and senior officers Russians and Syrians.
The military units involved in the maneuvers crossed water barriers and reached the opposite bank with intense shelling from the ground and from the air.
After evaluating the results of the exercises, the chief of staff reiterated the determination to continue improving the capabilities and capabilities of the armed forces and to continue the fight until every inch of Syrian territory is rid of terrorism and occupation.
The Syrian Armed Forces have in recent months intensified joint military exercises with Russian troops, including military parachuting and airborne operations, as well as the completion of several groups of elite troops.
According to analysts, these drills carry messages to Syria’s enemies, particularly the United States and Israel, accusing Damascus of violating its sovereignty.
