Sources told Channel 9 that Doll McLendon, 67, has been charged with attempted murder and discharging a weapon on occupied property in connection with the case.
At the crime scene, investigators found an employee with multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses told officers that after ordering food at the drive-thru, McLendon became upset and believed the clerk didn’t give him the correct change.
According to police, the McLendon exited the thoroughfare, then entered the restaurant, began shooting, and then left the scene. According to MEDIC, the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
CMPD officers were able to gather information for a vehicle description based on witness statements and restaurant footage.
Police later found what they believed was McLendon’s vehicle parked at an apartment complex, obtained arrest warrants for the suspect and took him into custody outside his home.
The investigations are still ongoing.
A shopper shared his thoughts on the shooting with Channel 9’s Glenn Counts.
“I don’t really focus on the little things; It shouldn’t really bother people. Little things like not getting the right change or not getting the right food are certainly not worth killing or shooting someone,” said Jazmyn Jackson.
