The American rapper Takeoff of the successful band Migos was shot dead in the city of Houston in the southern United States.
Police said the rapper was killed at a bar where he was playing dice with his uncle and bandmate. Quavothis Tuesday morning.

Migos were one of the most influential groups of their generation and pioneered a style of rap known as “Migos Flow”.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. local time (07:30 GMT) at the 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley amusement center in Houston.
Police said 40 to 50 guests were at a private party at the venue someone started shooting. Security forces nearby heard the shots but did not see who opened fire.

When they arrived, police officers said they found a large crowd and a man with a gunshot wound to the head or neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they are studying surveillance camera footage of the incident and have asked the public for information.
Takeoff had previously posted photos at this location via his Instagram account.. Crime scene images shared on social media appeared to show a man in similar clothing lying on the ground.
Reports that Quavo was also injured in the incident have not been confirmed. Police said two other victims were taken to hospital in private vehicles.
Takeoff has been identified as a fatal victim by US media including TMZ, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. However, police told the BBC they would not officially confirm the identity until the victim’s family was notified.

Several musicians have posted letters of condolence to Takeoff on social media.
