“We checked and found that we had no casualties in Helmand on the days when Prince Harry mentioned the killing of 25 mujahideen,” Taliban leader Anas Haqqani told Al Jazeera.
“It is clear that civilians and ordinary people were attacked,” he added.
Anas Haqqani said the story told by Prince Harry was “part of the many war crimes of the 20 years of western military presence in Afghanistan”.
“It’s not the full picture of the crimes they committed,” he said.
Earlier, the Taliban leader posted on his social media that “innocent Afghans are pawns” for soldiers, military leaders and politicians in the UK.
