Target is recalling millions of candles due to the risk of cuts and burns

Target has recalled nearly 5 million of its Threshold candles because candle jars were reportedly breaking or cracking during use.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday announced the recall of three of Target’s Threshold candle products after the retailer received 137 reports of breakage or cracking during use.

According to the CPSC, six injuries were reported, including lacerations and severe burns.

“This recall affects certain Threshold Glass Jar 5.5 ounce 1-Wick, 14 ounce 3-Wick, and 20 ounce 3-Wick candles in multiple scents,” the CPSC said. “The recalled item numbers are printed on the bottom of the glasses.”

The CPSC urged consumers to immediately stop using the recalled candles and return them to Target for a refund. Customers can also contact Target to obtain a prepaid return label for return mail.

The candles, made in Vietnam, were sold nationwide in Target stores and online from August 2019 to March 2023 for US$3 to US$20.
