A personal care clinic in Sainte-Thérèse, in the Laurentians, was fined nearly $150,000 on Wednesday for six years of tax evasion.
Between 2012 and 2018, the three administrators of the Clinique Soins des Pieds corporation failed to collect certain amounts related to applicable Revenu Québec taxes.
She did not make any statements for the years 2015 to 2017 either.
What brought the Department of Health and Human Services’ attention to the attention was that the company was selling plantar orthotics without collecting the amounts owed.
Brigitte Bouchard, Mario Éthier and Jordan Éthier, members of the same family, pleaded guilty to tax evasion on September 19 at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse.
“Quebec’s full recovery of the tax revenue owed to him is a priority for Revenu Québec. It is a matter of fairness to the vast majority of citizens and businesses paying their fair share of taxes and duties,” the government agency said in a statement.
The company and its three directors were ordered to pay a total of $149,466. As a result, Brigitte Bouchard and Mario Éthier were each fined $22,269, while Jordan Éthier was fined $17,310.
