It's clear that everything Taylor Swift and Beyoncé touch turns to gold: the world's largest cinema chain, AMC Theaters, is crediting the singers with a $110 million increase in sales last quarter thanks to concert films.
With these sales increases compared to the same quarter last year, AMC Theaters plans to present more films in the style of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” and Beyoncé's “Renaissance: A Film” in its 10,000 theaters around the world.
According to the head of the cinema chain, Adam Aron, many artists have contacted him to express their interest in screening films based on their tours in cinemas.
The Taylor Swift feature was also popular at Cineplex, Canada's largest theater chain, ranking first nationally in tickets sold by the company in the final quarter of 2023. According to a report released in early February, Cineplex's revenue fell by $5.2 million during this most recent quarter compared to the same period in 2022.
Taylor Swift's concert film was released in mid-October, Beyoncé's was presented on December 1st.
As Le Journal reported in October, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” secured the title of highest-grossing filmed concert of all time at the box office after just one weekend.
The work was also well received in Quebec cinemas, taking first place in our box office with $ 643,920 in its first weekend in cinemas and seventh place with $ 1.513 million for the period covering the last three months of 2023.
