Taylor Swift's unprecedented year has reached another milestone – according to concert trade publication Pollstar, Swift's Eras Tour has grossed more than $1 billion. (December 8)
Taylor Swift is showing her generosity to a place she cares about.
Following the devastating tornadoes that ripped through several Tennessee counties on Saturday, Swift donated $1 million to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee's Tennessee Emergency Response Fund.
Hal Cato, CEO of the community foundation, confirmed Swift's post. The organization operates a fund that supports nonprofit organizations to provide vital services during all phases of a disaster: emergency relief, short-term recovery and long-term recovery. Although she's often seen socializing on the East Coast, the megastar, who was just named Time Magazine's Person of the Year, remains tied to Nashville, where she still lives and has her office.
As a teenager, Swift attended Hendersonville High School in Sumner County, one of several hit by storms that killed at least six people, injured dozens and destroyed homes and buildings, including Davidson and Montgomery.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the tornado that devastated Clarksville in Montgomery County crossed an 11-mile path with peak winds of 150 mph.
Cato said Swift's donation will support “the immediate and long-term recovery needs” in Sumner County and surrounding areas hit hardest by the tornadoes.
Swift's donation isn't the first time the newly minted billionaire has quietly committed to charity.

During her Eras tour this year, Swift made significant donations to food banks in every U.S. city she played.
A spokesperson for the Arizona Food Bank Network told CNN that Swift's donation allowed the organization to send semi-trucks loaded with 40,000 pounds of fresh produce to affiliated food banks while also increasing funding for hunger-fighting programs.
Silicon Valley Food Bank's Second Harvest announced that during her tour stop in Santa Clara, California, Swift donated enough “to feed an average of approximately 500,000 people in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties each month.”
Swift's magnanimity spread internally, too. When the Eras Tour wrapped up its first leg in August, the singer gave $55 million in bonuses to her tour family, including dancers, truck drivers, sound engineers and catering staff.
