Social media users were quick to react to a bizarre video of Gwyneth Paltrow being grilled by Utah-based attorney Kristin Vanorman about her friendship with Taylor Swift as she took the stand on Friday to testify in a 2016 skiing accident trial to testify.
While testifying about the accident in a Park City courtroom, the 50-year-old Oscar winner was asked how close she is to the 33-year-old pop star, who was known to have been awarded a token $1 in damages in 2017 after she lost her A Denver DJ, who is accused of groping her, won the case.
Asked if she was inspired by the singer’s “symbolic” request for a single dollar, the Contagion actress insisted she was unfamiliar with the case as she made the decision to counter Terry Sanderson, the man who had accused her of “reckless skiing” fell for him seven years ago at a beginner’s run at Deer Valley Resort,’ according to the AP.
“It’s a real dollar I’m asking,” she told Sanderson’s attorney, before noting it was “symbolic” because “the damage would actually be higher.”
Vanorman then fired back: “Remember I asked you is it symbolic and you said yes it is and I also asked you well you found out about this through Taylor Swift because they are asking for symbolic damages asked for $1, right.”

Unconvinced by the statement, Vanorman pressed whether Paltrow ever sent the singer “personal intimate gifts for Christmas.”
Plaintiff’s attorney was citing a 2021 commercial for Paltrow’s lifestyle brand in which the actress placed a vibrator in a gift bag addressed to Swift.
