With a temperature of almost 40 ° C in Rio, pop star Taylor Swift opened the Brazilian “The Eras Tour” on Friday evening (17) at the Nilton Santos Stadium in Engenhão. The pop diva took the stage at 7:32 p.m., accompanied by the enthusiastic screams of fans, a “Hello” in Portuguese and the song “Cruel Summer”.

“It’s the first time I’ve been back to Brazil in 11 years and look at this [aponta para o público, orgulhosa]. I am very satisfied with all of this, thank you for coming. “This is my “wildest dream,” the artist explained, making a play on words about her song “Wildest Dreams” or “Craziest Dreams” in translation:

The singer thanked her fans for the homage to Christ the Savior, which became more important after the virtual mobilization of the “Swifties”. According to Taylor, that was it “The coolest thing anyone has ever done” for her.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw it! I thought it was Photoshop because it couldn’t be real. It’s an honor, the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. And the most incredible thing is that you made it because you donated food and water. That’s really cool.”

Ask for help from a hot fan

Fans became sick during the performance, and the artist stopped singing to alert the group to the performance and ask them to drink water there.

“She’s sick, can you see that? They really need water. It’s coming, okay?”

To escape the heat, anything was possible: ice on the neck, a bottle of water on the forehead and less clothing; some girls preferred to wear a top or a bra.

It took eleven years for the singer to come to Brazil. At that time she only gave a bag show and this is the first time that she has delighted her fans by selling tickets to the public.

With a 17year career and a legion of fans, initial sales for Rio and SP sold out in 37 minutes.

Opening by Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter had already opened her work on the Engenhão stage with her hits “Read your mind”, “Because I like a boy” and “Nonsense”.

In a 30minute presentation, the artist spoke to the audience using words in Portuguese such as “thank you,” “hello,” and concluded by declaring her love for the city.

Under the high midmorning sun, the “Swifties” presented outfits inspired by the muse and, of course, exchanged friendship bracelets.

Economist Mariana Oliveira, 25, learned to sew so she could go to the show in an outfit similar to Taylor’s. The sequin and crystalfilled bodysuit took four months to complete. For her it is a dream come true.

“I have always connected with her lyrics, which mean a lot to me. I cried when I got here and had the opportunity to meet so many people who love Taylor like me,” said Mariana.
