Taylor Swift has been named Time Magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year. The announcement was made this Wednesday (6) by the publication, which released three covers with images of the singer.

Taylor’s 2023 was marked by the release of rerecordings of some of her albums after she acquired the rights to the works from a businessman in 2019.

“This year, Taylor Swift released rerecordings of parts of ‘Speak Now’ and ‘1989’ a yearslong project to regain control of her work. It presents the strategy as a coping mechanism,” the magazine wrote during the announcement .

“It all depends on how you deal with the loss. “I react to extreme pain with defiance,” says the singer.

“Imagine Picasso painting something he painted years ago and then recreating it with today’s colors,” praises Lucian Grainge, CEO of the parent company that owns Swift’s record label.

“Taylor Swift has found a way to push boundaries and be a source of light (…) Swift is a rare person who is both the author and heroine of her own story,” wrote Time editorinchief Sam Jacobs.
