Taylor Swift will miss Travis Kelce’s Chiefs vs. Eagles game on Monday due to Eras Tour change

Taylor Swift won’t be in the private suite to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce on Monday. Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs will face his brother Jason Kelce and the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium.

Taylor reportedly planned to attend the game, which would have served as the first meeting between her parents, Andrea and Scott Swift, and Travis’ parents, Donna and Ed Kelce.

However, Taylor had to postpone her Eras Tour show in Brazil on Saturday due to “extreme temperatures.” The decision was made just a few hours before the show began. The concert has been postponed until Monday, meaning she won’t be at the big game.

It is unknown if Swift’s parents will still come to the game or if the meeting will have to take place at some point in the future instead.

Swift was originally scheduled to play at the Estadio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro over three nights from Friday to Sunday, which would give her enough time to return to the United States for the game and then return to Brazil for her three appearances in São Paulo starting March 24. November.

However, Saturday’s cancellation completely changed that schedule.

The Midnights singer shared on Instagram on Saturday that she came to the decision to postpone the show in her dressing room at the venue.

“I am writing this from my dressing room at the stadium. Due to the extreme temperatures in Rio, the decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show,” she said in a handwritten message shared on her Instagram Story. “The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow artists and crew must and will always come first.”

The postponement comes a day after a fan died moments before attending the concert on Friday. Before taking the stage, the “Lavender Haze” singer said she was “devastated” after learning of the fan’s death. She added that she couldn’t talk about it on stage because she felt “overwhelmed by grief.”

“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but with a broken heart I say we lost a fan before my show tonight,” Swift said in a handwritten note she posted to her Instagram Story. “I can’t tell you how devastated I am about this. There is very little information that I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”

She added: “I want to say now that I feel this loss deeply and my heartbreak goes out to her family and friends. That’s the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”

Time for Fun, one of the event organizers, announced on his verified X account that the victim was 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides. According to the organizer’s statement (in Portuguese), Benevides felt unwell and was immediately attended to by paramedics before being taken to the stadium’s medical center. She was then transported to a nearby hospital where she died.

According to multiple reports, Benevides allegedly suffered cardiac arrest due to the extreme heat. The Associated Press previously reported that Brazil was struggling with a dangerous heat wave. The heat index reached a whopping 137 degrees on Tuesday morning, and the “feels like” temperature for Saturday was expected to be 111 degrees.

Hours before she postponed Saturday’s show, throngs of fans lined up inside the stadium, shielding themselves from the intense sun with umbrellas, hours before the gates opened.

This is the second time Swift has had to postpone one of her Eras Tour shows due to extreme weather conditions. She had to postpone the second night of her three-show stay in Argentina because the “chaotic weather” would endanger her fans and crew.
