Teacher falls to his death while searching a TikTok site

A special education teacher tragically died after falling 150ft off a ridge while searching for a “secret” infinity pool she saw on TikTok.

While the incident happened in December, the heartbreaking details only emerged at an inquest into her untimely death on Wednesday, North Wales Live reported.

The tragedy happened on December 19, 2021, when 47-year-old Victoria Naomi Luck of Britain was hiking with her partner Matthew Radnor and their dog in Snowdonia National Park in Wales, according to the inquest. The site’s infinity pool has garnered nearly 90 million viral video views across a series of TikTok clips.

Luck’s Beau took her to Snowdonia last year as an early Christmas present after they met that summer and ‘got together straight away’.

The mother of two was reportedly keen on visiting a hidden swimming hole near Llanberis Pass. “I saw the infinity pool on TikTok and showed it to her, she was quite taken with it and thought it looked amazing so we decided to go there,” Radnor explained during the hearing.

Originally built by a farmer in 2016 as a green energy project, the remote site has since become a tourist attraction, drawing visitors from across the UK, according to Wales Online.

Unfortunately, Radnor and Luck’s pool pilgrimage turned disastrous after the lovebirds, who didn’t have a map or navigation on their phones, got lost on the infamous Crib Goch ridge while trying to find it, according to the inquest.

“There were no established trails in the area and this was not a known route to descend from Crib Goch,” chief medical examiner Sarah Riley said in the inquest.

At this point the pair separated, and Luck descended into a ravine while Radnor decided to descend via a route that was easier for the dog, according to the NWL.

That was the last time he saw his lover as she fell 150ft to her death minutes later, ITV reported.Radnor explained that he heard his lover “scream” but did not see the actual jump.

Fearing the worst, the distraught lad tried to alert authorities, but to no avail. “I called 999 on my cell phone but my battery died going to mountain rescue,” who luckily were able to stop several hikers in the area.

A Coast Guard rescue helicopter then arrived at the scene, whereupon they located Ms. Luck and boarded. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries before 3:00 p.m. that day.

“Victoria Naomi Luck died of multiple injuries from a fall from a height,” explained Riley, who attributed her death to “accident.”

Luck’s family has since paid tribute to the late teacher. “Vicky had a large circle of friends and was a mentor to others,” said her father, Gordon Victor Luck. “She was always helping others and her home was always open to those who needed her.”

He added: “She will and will be missed so much by everyone.”

This isn’t the first time someone has died while hiking in recent times. In one of a series of similar incidents, Richard Jacobson, 21, died earlier this year after falling an estimated 400 to 700 feet from a mountaintop in Arizona while taking a picture.
