Teachers’ strike: See if your school is affected

Parents of students will have to organize well from Tuesday to navigate between the strike days of the Common Front school staff – scheduled for November 21-23 – and those of the Autonomous Education Federation (FAE) teachers. who will launch an indefinite strike from November 23rd.

Here you will find an overview of the affected school service centers with details of the duration of their presence, depending on whether their teachers are represented by the FAE or not.

MONTREAL

• Montreal School Service Center (represented by FAE)

All CSSDM facilities and daycare centers will be closed indefinitely starting Tuesday, November 21, the commission announced on its website. Only courses and internships that are planned outside of the center’s facilities will be held.

The Civic Center will be closed on November 21st, 22nd and 23rd.

• Pointe-de-l’Île School Service Center (represented by the FAE)

The unions of support staff and professionals at the Pointe-de-l’Île School Service Center will go on strike from Tuesday, November 21, through Thursday, November 23, the center announced.

FAE teachers are on indefinite strike from November 23rd.

Classes and childcare will therefore be suspended indefinitely from Tuesday, November 21st.

• Marguerite Bourgeoys School Service Center (represented by the FAE)

From November 21st to 23rd, the support and specialists at the service center will be on strike. Teachers will begin their indefinite strike on November 23rd.

“Consequently, all CSSMB educational institutions will remain closed indefinitely from Tuesday. Daycare centers will not be available,” it said.

LAVAL

• Laval School Service Center (represented by FAE)

Support workers and professionals will strike at the Common Front from November 21st to 23rd. The FAE strike will continue indefinitely on November 23rd.

These two situations mean that from Tuesday all service center facilities and daycare centers will remain closed, with no return date announced.

• Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board

School and daycare operations will remain closed from November 21st to 23rd. Regular operations are scheduled to resume on the 24th.

LAURENTIDES/LANAUDIERE

• Seigneurie-des-Mille-Îles School Service Center (represented by the FAE)

The Commission announced that from November 21 and until further notice, courses will not be offered to primary and secondary schools as well as general adult and vocational training centers of the CSSMI.

• Rivière-du-Nord school service center

All schools and vocational training centers will remain closed for the three days of the Joint Front Strike from November 21st to 23rd. The return to normality is scheduled for November 24th.

• Hautes-Laurentides school service center

A complete suspension of classes and childcare services is planned for November 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Everything will go back to normal on Friday.

• Service center for wealthy schools

All schools, training centers and administrative offices will be closed from November 21st to 23rd.

• Samares School Service Center

The school service center cannot offer its usual offerings on November 21st, 22nd and 23rd.

• Laurentides School Service Center

Schools, daycare and transportation will not be available from November 21st to 23rd.

ESTRIE

• Val-des-Cerfs school service center (represented by the FAE)

From November 21st to 24th inclusive, no classes, no school transport and no daycare centers are planned in the school facilities of this body due to the picket lines and an education day already planned for Friday.

“As the FAE has informed us that it is launching an indefinite general strike from November 23rd, it is possible that the strike will continue during the week of November 27th,” it stressed.

• Beauce-Etchemin school service center

Due to the Joint Front strike days, school operations will be closed from November 21st to 23rd, as will childcare services and extracurricular activities.

• Sherbrooke Region School Service Center

The center advised that no students should come to school as all facilities, including daycare centers, were closed.

• Appalachian School Service Center

“All our services will be suspended on November 21, 22 and 23 due to the public sector workers’ strike,” the school service center said.

• Hauts-Cantons school service center

During the staff strike from November 21 to 23, “no student will be allowed to come to school as classes will be suspended in all our facilities.”

The daycare centers will also be closed.

• Sommets School Service Center

From November 21st to 23rd, classes will be suspended and childcare will not be offered. “Activities are expected to resume normally on Friday, November 24,” it said.

• Eastern Townships School Board

Schools and school services will be suspended from November 21st to 23rd, with a return to normality planned for Friday.

OUTAOUAIS

• Portages-de-l’Outaouais School Service Center (represented by the FAE)

From Tuesday, November 21st, classes will be suspended at all schools on strike days and daycare centers will also remain closed.

• Draveurs school service center (represented by the FAE)

Classes, childcare and school transport will be canceled indefinitely from November 21st.

• School service center in Cœur-des-Vallées (represented by the FAE)

Between the strike of the care and specialist staff and that of the teachers, classes and daycare centers will remain closed indefinitely from November 21st.

It was clarified that parents who use the daycare center will not be charged for the strike days.

• Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais School Service Center

The center was required to “suspend school transportation, suspend classes and close all of its facilities and daycare centers” from November 21 to 23.

MONTREGIE

• Trois-Lacs School Service Center (represented by FAE)

Due to the various strike mandates in effect from November 21st, classes for primary and secondary students as well as adult education are suspended.

• Patriotes School Service Center

Schools and training centers will remain closed from November 21st to 23rd. An educational meeting is planned for Friday, and on the 24th there will only be child care.

• Marie Victorin School Service Center

During the strike days from November 21st to 23rd, educational and childcare programs as well as extracurricular activities will not be offered.

• Saint-Hyacinthe School Service Center

School operations will be suspended from November 21st to 23rd.

• Riveraine School Service Center

Schools, centers and administrative services as well as daycare centers will remain closed from November 21st to 23rd.

• Sorel Tracy School Service Center

Schools and training centers will remain closed from November 21st to 23rd. An education day will take place on Friday, but childcare will reopen in accordance with the regulations at the time.

• Hautes-Rivières school service center

After three days of strikes from November 21st to 23rd, activities will return to normal on November 24th.

• New Frontiers School Board

Classes and daycare will be suspended November 21-23 before resuming on November 24.

• Riverside School Board

The strike planned for November 21-23 will bring schools to a standstill in this facility, while an education day is planned for Friday.

QUEBEC

• Capital School Service Center (represented by FAE)

The center reported that it could not maintain its activities and was forced to suspend all courses from November 21 until further notice.

Primary school daycare centers will also be closed.

“Despite the return of daycare staff to work from November 24th, the nature of the teachers’ strike makes it impossible for us to know where and when pickets will be set up, which could make it difficult or even impossible to access certain locations “ said Marie-Claude Lavoie, the center’s communications coordinator, via email.

• Premières-Seigneuries school service center (represented by the FAE)

Due to the care and specialist staff strike, lessons and care in the daycare center will be suspended from November 21st to 23rd.

Due to the FAE teachers’ strike, activities will be suspended indefinitely from November 23rd.

• Charlevoix School Service Center

Schools, daycare centers, school transportation and administrative centers will remain closed from November 21st to 23rd before resuming normal operations on November 24th.

• Portneuf school service center

All unionized staff will strike November 21-23, forcing the cessation of all school activities.

• Des Découvreurs School Service Center

All schools, including daycare centers, will remain closed on November 21st, 22nd and 23rd. “Activities will resume normally on November 24th,” it was announced.
