The ongoing writers’ strike has forced the cancellation of the Ted Lasso Finale screening and discussion at the Paley Center.

The Paley Center for Media told ticket holders Thursday that the screening of the season 3 finale — a possible series finale — and subsequent cast panel discussion, which should have included Jason Sudeikis (Ted) and Brendan Hunt (Beard), will take place on April 30 . May have been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.”

According to THR sources, the strike played a key role in the decision as Ted himself, Sudeikis, helped create the series and is also a co-writer along with Hunt. The Writers Guild of America has asked its members not to attend press events organized by studios that are members of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Ted Lasso is produced for Apple by Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, all of which are members of the AMPTP, the group representing studios and streamers and whom the WGA is striking against over issues such as streaming residencies, fair pay and usage, among others mini rooms.

Ticket purchasers for Tuesday’s event will automatically receive a full refund.

Sudeikis, Hunt and Brett Goldstein (Roy) were often seen walking along the picket line with their fellow writers at Ted Lasso’s.

Next week’s finale is expected to shed light on the future of co-creator Bill Lawrence’s Emmy-winning series. The series was created with a three-season arc, and Sudeikis has repeatedly said that season three actually marks the end of Ted’s story. However, now that the show has become a global phenomenon and an award-winning hit, it’s unclear whether the finale will end the season or the series as a whole. This week’s penultimate episode (spoiler alert!) set up a finale in which Ted could return home to the US and be reunited with his son. Sudeikis has been open about the implications of shooting Ted Lasso in London and leaving his own son in the US for the months-long production.
