“Ted Lasso” season 3 sets spring premieres and debuts with a first look at Ted and Nathan’s rivalry

The third season of the hit Apple TV+ comedy series “Ted Lasso” will premiere in spring 2023. The season also has a new first look picture, seen above, showing Ted (Jason Sudeikis) and Nathan (Nick Mohammed) confronting each other after becoming rivals in the Season 2 finale.

The news came from Apple’s presentation during the Television Critics Association press tour in winter 2023, which also included Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence and writer/star Brett Goldstein at a panel about their upcoming comedy series, Shrinking” were to be seen. When asked about “Ted Lasso” during the panel, Lawrence was tight-lipped, but as for Season 3, he said, “I’ve seen cuts and it’s freaking awesome,” while Goldstein emphasized his pride in the season.

While no official confirmation has been issued, it has long been assumed that Season 3 will mark the end of “Ted Lasso” — in large part based on cast member comments. Sudeikis told Entertainment Weekly in 2021 that he sees a three-season arc for the series but may be open to doing more, while Goldstein told the Sunday Times that season 3 will be written as a curtain call.

“Ted Lasso” follows his titular character, a junior college soccer coach from Kansas who was hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no soccer coaching experience. At the end of season two, after feeling despised by Ted, Nathan leaves AFC Richmond to coach an opposing team owned by the ex-husband (Anthony Head) of the owner of Richmond (Hannah Waddingham). Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple and Phil Dunster also star.

Sudeikis serves as executive producer alongside Bill Lawrence through his Doozer Productions banner in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold is also serving as executive producer with Lizakatzer as co-executive producer. Developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Hunt and Joe Kelly, the series is based on the existing format and characters from NBC Sports.
