A teenager was arrested last week in Edmonton, Alberta, for pointing a loaded gun at a police officer from a stolen car.
According to the National Post, on December 15, a police officer received a report of a Toyota Matrix car with a stolen license plate and responded to the scene.
When the 16-year-old arrived at the unmarked police car, he pointed a handgun at the officer and then fled without stopping at the set up traffic stop, Edmonton police reported.
The fleeing teenager was stopped shortly afterwards when his car crashed into the garage door of a house. The police took the opportunity to arrest him.
After investigating, police found the loaded gun on the teenager and were able to confirm that the vehicle and license plate were stolen, the media reported extensively.
The teen was charged with 16 counts, including pointing a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and reckless use/storage of a weapon, discharge and hit-and-run.
Three additional charges were filed for violating the terms of a release order.
