Tennis: Affected by the war, Ons Jabeur bursts into tears on the court

Ons Jabeur couldn’t be happy about his victory over Czech Marketa Vondrousova on Wednesday evening in the WTA final in Cancun. Touched by the fate that befalls the victims of the war between Israel and Hamas, the Tunisian burst into tears after her fight on the field.

“It’s very difficult for me to see children and babies dying every day,” the seventh-ranked player in the world said emotionally in the post-match interview, shortly after defeating the Wimbledon 6s champion -4, 6-3.

“This breaks my heart. I have decided to donate part of the scholarships I will receive [à Cancun] to help that [enfants] Palestinians,” she added.

The 29-year-old player said she wanted “peace in the world” and wanted to send a message that was not “political but human” and also said that she could not be “satisfied with her victory” due to the armed conflict .
