The Tennis Podcast then responded to X.
“Jessica Pegula made it clear that she was not crying as she left the field,” wrote David Law, one of the podcast hosts.
“At the time I was working as a commentator for the BBC. I saw her touch her eyes and thought she was wiping away a tear, but there was just something in her eye. I wanted to clarify things.”
Although she lost in the singles, Pegula continued her tournament at Flushing Meadows. She reached the quarterfinals in women’s doubles and mixed doubles. The heiress to Kim and Terry Pegula – the owners of the Buffalo Bills and Sabers – is teaming up with Coco Gauff and Austin Krajicek, respectively.
