Haddad Maia was taking a shower at the hotel when the cabin window exploded. She had to go to the hospital for treatment, including stitches. She also had cuts on other parts of her body.
The 27-year-old said she will take several days off to see how her hands heal, but she hopes to be back for the final part of the schedule.
The former top 10 member is still in search of a title this season after being soundly defeated by Quebec’s Leylah Fernandez in the second round of the National Bank Open in Montreal in August.
