A new demonstration organized by the opposition in Belgrade today in protest against alleged election fraud degenerated into an attempt to break into the capital's town hall in the evening – as local media report. After gathering as usual in front of the Electoral Commission headquarters in the center of Belgrade, demonstrators marched towards the nearby town hall, shouting slogans directed against the government and President Aleksandar Vucic, who was accused of falsifying the result of the vote have December 17, both in the parliamentary elections and in the administrative elections in Belgrade.


In response, police in Belgrade used tear gas to disperse protesters. The Interior Ministry called for an end to the violence and stressed that the attack on institutional offices constitutes a serious crime that carries severe sanctions.
