With the end of the school year, the summer season has started on the public beach of Saida in southern Lebanon. A few regulars swim in the Mediterranean Sea that borders this predominantly Muslim city. Employees pick up rubbish in the sand and set up plastic tables and chairs. At the entrance, a poster from the town hall lists the instructions to be followed, such as the ban on alcohol or the requirement for decent, unspecified clothing.
