Terrible moment Kickboxer ends up with a DIVOT in the forehead as a knee strike fractures his skull – but tries to fight on before the fight is over

  • Sharov wanted to continue fighting, but his opponent alerted the referee

Russian fighter Danil Sharov suffered a disgusting head injury on his kickboxing debut last Friday night – and amazingly tried to continue fighting afterwards.

Sharov suffered a fractured skull as a result of a knee to his forehead in a fight against Danil Kirikov at the FKR Pro 1 event in Moscow.

The injury came in round two when the pair briefly clasped and the taller Kirikov fired a knee into his opponent’s face, leaving a visible dent on his forehead.

Sharov didn’t seem bothered by the injury, he touched her briefly with his glove and resumed his fighting stance.

Fortunately, his opponent was able to see the seriousness of the situation and drew the referee’s attention to Sharov’s sunken forehead.

The referee stopped the action and called the ringside doctor to give his professional opinion on the injury, which turned out to be an apparent fractured skull.

Sharov appeared eager to continue fighting, but the fight was stopped and Kirikov was awarded the TKO victory.

Fight fans on social media were quick to praise both the opponent and the referee, who were concerned about Sharov’s well-being.

“Good for the opponent to recognize that and not engage,” said one Twitter user.

‘Ref was on top of it. Absolutely first class officer. Well done!’ added another.

‘Russian. The guy probably walked away and then got drunk,” joked a third.

The fractured skull was very similar to the horrific injury Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos suffered when he met Michael “Venom” Page at Bellator 158 in 2016.

‘MVP’ landed a vicious knee to the head of Santos, leaving him with an almost identical skull fracture.

“Cyborg” eventually retired from martial arts after recovering from the injury, and Sharov may need to do the same.
