Terrorist attack in Brussels Two Tunisians accused in Paris

Two Tunisians have been charged in France in connection with the Islamist attack in Brussels about a week ago that killed two people from Sweden. The two men from near Paris were brought before a judge on Monday and are now in custody, the French anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday. The attacker himself, also Tunisian, was killed by Belgian police.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office accuses the two men of forming a “terrorist” group and of aiding and abetting murders related to a terrorist attack. The investigation aims to clarify the connection between the two men and the 45-year-old attacker, who shot two Swedes in the Belgian capital.

Last week, police arrested a total of four men in search of possible accomplices. She released two of them without charge.

The 45-year-old Tunisian shot two Swedish fans and injured two others about a week ago, before the European Championship qualifiers between Belgium and Sweden in Brussels. The perpetrator initially managed to escape, but was tracked down and shot by Belgian police a day later. The jihadist militia “Islamic State” (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack.
