Tesla’s Cyber Rodeo showcased a number of the company’s upcoming vehicles, although the Cybertruck obviously stole the show. From its arrival at the facility, to its display in the hours leading up to Elon Musk’s speech, to its appearance later that night with design chief Franz von Holzhausen, the all-electric pickup truck captured the attention of attendees and online viewers alike.
Several updates to the Cybertruck were spotted during his performance at the Cyber Rodeo. These included the updated doors, which Elon Musk turned on after his presentation, side repeater cameras that now resemble the units used in Tesla’s other vehicles, and what appears to be a conceptual charging port attached to one of the all-electric pickup’s fenders . A recent video also showed the Cybertruck showcasing an upcoming handy feature throughout the day.
As the Cybertruck Owner’s Club told Teslarati, the Cybertruck demonstrated its rear-wheel steering capabilities while moving through Giga Texas. A video of the vehicle was shared online, and while it was very brief, it was easy to see the cybetruck’s rear wheels moving. The vehicle’s slow speed when using rear-wheel steering suggests some benefits the feature could offer when parking or maneuvering in tight spaces.
Elon Musk first announced the Cybertruck’s rear-wheel steering on Twitter last year. In his post, Musk explained that the feature was added to ensure the Cybertruck can take tight turns and maneuver with high agility. This was a pretty handy move for Tesla, especially given the size of the cybertruck. With a wheelbase longer than the Ford F-150, the Cybertruck is a large vehicle, so adding features that make it more maneuverable is likely to be appreciated by customers.
Deliveries of the Cybertruck have been delayed, although Elon Musk seemed confident that Tesla could start delivering the vehicle next year. The CEO seems very excited about the all-electric pickup, noting during the Cyber Rodeo that the Cybertruck could be Tesla’s “magnum opus.” If anything, the truck would definitely feature Tesla’s best technology yet, such as the Hardware 4.0 computer Musk mentioned during AI Day. With Hardware 4.0, the Cybertruck would definitely be as future-proof as possible.
