An image of a Tesla Cybertruck has been leaked from a Tesla shop with the foil looking like a Ford F-150.
It looks like Tesla is trolling, but more importantly, the image raises questions about the cybertruck’s trunk.
Recently we’ve seen several Tesla Cybertruck prototypes with wraps driving around California.
The automaker appears to be either hiding its Cybertruck release candidates or testing foils on its electric trucks, or both.
But now a cybertruck with, shall we say, more creative packaging has been leaked from a Tesla store.
Greggertruck shared the picture on Twitter:
After disguising the first two cybertrucks spotted with foil, Tesla appears to be trolling by making the truck look like a normal pickup truck.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk famously said that pickup trucks like the F-150 look boring because pickup truck design hasn’t changed in 30 years.
The automaker will likely road test this release candidate and get people talking, which is probably the goal here.
But the leaked image may be more interesting for the best look under the Cybertruck’s hood yet.
It cast doubt on the Cybertruck even having a front truck:
It’s possible that the liner just isn’t installed and the Cybertruck has a trunk, but it looks like it would be pretty small if it had one.
If so, it would be the first Tesla vehicle without a trunk.
It is also believed that luggage trunks are more valuable in electric pickups than in regular electric cars since they have beds instead of trunks.
In the case of the Cybertruck, that’s not too bad since it has an enclosed bed, but it could still be nice to have access to a separate enclosed area.
