Tesla driver plows into crowds and other cars in a desperate attempt to escape an unruly takeover mob in Chicago – as police watch

This is the terrifying moment a Tesla stuck on Lower Wacker Drive in Chicago was attacked by an unruly flash mob.
A video emerged online of an incident over the weekend in which the flash mob, part of a takeover, sat on the roof of the vehicle and punched it repeatedly.
The Tesla driver – whose rear window is smashed – then speeds up and appears to hit someone with his car as crowds smash the car’s windows and side mirrors.
It is unclear why the car was targeted, but car demonstrations were taking place at the time of the incident.
Chicago Police officers were at the scene along with groups of looters and bystanders. But police in the video did little to stop the Tesla attackers or disperse the crowd.

The Tesla keeps trying to escape while scraping against other cars on the subway and leaving its side mirror hanging by a thread.
“The driver is now being attacked by the people,” a nearby police scanner said in one of the videos.
A person recording from outside the car points the camera at the driver, showing a person wearing a black hat behind the steering wheel.
Someone else sits in the passenger seat as the driver, phone in hand, reverses the white Tesla before driving through oncoming cars.
The car appears to break free after the confrontation and drive off.

Those involved in the violent confrontation wore dark clothing and masks that covered their faces.
The Tesla driver and passenger were also not identified.
Lower Wacker is a multi-level road in Chicago that is difficult for some drivers to navigate because they are unfamiliar with the road’s underground route.

During the demonstrations, people drive at high speeds and are known to make excessive noise, which has also been heard by residents bordering the roadway.
