Days after Tesla received final environmental approval for the Giga Berlin, the electric car maker is recruiting for its plant in Germany.
A quick search on Tesla’s job page reveals that the company has listed at least 50 new jobs in Grünheide, Brandenburg. The Giga Berlin hiring framework includes vacancies in several categories such as HR, manufacturing, business operations and support, and supply chain. The recruitment frame shows the employment opportunities that Giga Berlin has brought and will bring to Grunheide in the future.
Last week, Tesla received an environmental permit to produce 500,000 vehicles a year at the Gigafactory in Berlin.
“Tesla Village is a demonstration project. I would like to thank everyone involved for a great job. The fact that Tesla now has the permit to build the gigafactory in his hands was only possible because the working processes of the Brandenburg authorities are very well interconnected. They have shown that they can make big investments. Those who are interested in relocating can count on a fast and equally good and legally secure quality of work,” commented Economy Minister Jörg Steinbach.
Tesla Giga Berlin is expected to attract other companies to Brandenburg while building a local supply chain. Thus, job opportunities can grow as Tesla production increases.
“This is a breakthrough for future projects. In addition, Tesla is an investor who was willing to take significant risks and, in turn, also contributed to the acceleration. The Tesla plant in Grünheide means that Brandenburg as a place for business is perceived much more globally. An entirely new value chain for electric vehicles is developing in the land, and Brandenburg is becoming a pioneering land. I firmly believe that the Tesla project will be defining for our state and will have a pull effect for years to come,” Steinbach added.
Tesla is expected to start Giga Berlin with the Model Y. It has already started test production of the Model Y in Germany thanks to pre-approval. The final approval allows Tesla to continue building the Giga Berlin, but does not allow the company to “commission the system.” Tesla still has to meet a few additional conditions in order to get the Giga Berlin up and running.
Tesla Giga Berlin’s final approval included approval to manufacture battery cells, assuming 4,680 batteries to be produced locally. Gigafactory Texas is already producing Model Y units with Tesla 4680 cells. Giga Texas Model Y vehicles have piled up at the plant awaiting delivery. The hiring ramp hints that Tesla is eager to leave.
