The Texas Rangers won the World Series for the first time in franchise history after pitcher Nathan Eovaldi pitched six scoreless innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks collapsed late in Game 5.

The Rangers took a 3-1 lead into Chase Field on Wednesday night, and an RBI single by Mitch Garver in the seventh gave them the lead after Eovaldi’s impressive performance on the mound.

Despite a roaring home crowd, the Diamondbacks were unable to equalize, and the team collapsed in the top of the ninth, allowing the Rangers to score three straight hits, leading to two more runs, giving them free reign.

Marcus Semien then silenced the arena a few minutes later with a two-run home run – his second of the postseason – ensuring it was a dominant series-sealing win for the Rangers.

With Wednesday night’s 5-0 triumph, the Rangers won the World Series for the first time in franchise history and the third straight season after falling short in 2010 and 2011.

However, it was manager Bruce Bochy’s fourth World Series after leading his team to its first masterpiece in 12 years. He previously won with the San Francisco Giants in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
