A Texas woman suffered serious injuries after being brutally attacked by a snake and a hawk while mowing a lawn.
Peggy Jones told click2Houston she was on a tractor mower when the snake fell from the sky and landed on her at her home in Silsbee.
As it began to wrap more tightly around her arm, a hawk swooped down and began reaching for a defenseless Jones to grab its prey.
“The snake was pushing so hard and I was waving my arms in the air,” she told the outlet.
“Then this hawk flew down and kept scratching my arm. I kept saying, “Help me Jesus, help me Jesus.”

Eventually, the hawk snatched the snake from her arm and successfully flew away, leaving Jones with a bloody arm covered with deep cuts and bruises.
“I screamed and screamed. [My husband] didn’t know what i was saying. “I thought I was bitten by a snake,” Jones explained.
Jones’ husband ran into the commotion and took his wife to the emergency room, where her injuries were treated.
Jones said she knew how close she could have been to being bitten by the snake when she “threw her arms from side to side” to dislodge the slithering intruder.
“He kept punching me in the face, he punched my glasses,” she said.
“I discovered that the lens on my glasses was broken and there was snake venom on my glasses.”
The unexpected attack caused Jones to feel relieved as it could have turned out worse.

Jones said this wasn’t even her first snake attack and told click2Houston that she survived a venom bite a few years ago.
One of the largest states in the United States, Texas encompasses a wide variety of habitats and is along the flight path of many migratory species.
The region is home to an impressive 670 species of birds, including at least 19 species of falcon, 15 of which regularly roam the region.
Although it remains unclear what species of goshawks and snakes were involved in the attack, it’s common for them to be sighted at this time of year, according to Avibirds.
