29-year-old ASEAN Paralympics silver medalist Chaturong Suksuk also shot and killed his wife Kanchana Pachunthuek’s mother and sister at their wedding in northeastern Thailand.
“They were arguing about private matters and Chaturong went to his car and grabbed a gun before firing,” said Matichon Wongbaokul, a local police officer.
He added that Chaturong shot his wife and four other people before killing himself, adding that one of the victims was a guest who was hit by a stray bullet.
As a swimmer, Chaturong won two silver medals at the 2022 ASEAN Paralympic Games in Indonesia and Cambodia.
According to local media, he was a ranger in the Thai army and lost his right leg while on border patrol.
Gun violence is widespread in Thailand, where guns can be purchased both legally and illegally.
