Thailand impresses with a dress made of can rings in the preliminary round of Miss Universe

At the Miss Universe prelims held in New Orleans last night, Thailand contestant Anna Sueangam-iam caused a stir with her dress made from tin rings.

As revealed on Instagram, the dress “She is the result of the upbringing of a father who is a garbage collector, a mother who is a street sweeper and a virtuous nun who was Anna’s great-grandmother.”.

“Though some call her ‘The Beauty Queen of Trash,’ that never stops her from shining like a precious jewel,” the publication adds.

The ornate design also includes Swarovski crystals.

Meanwhile, Puerto Rican contestant Ashley Ann Cariño won in a dress designed by designer Carlos Alberto. The stunning suit is crafted from mesh and hand embroidered. It has an imperial-royal neckline and a V-neckline, and the top features handcrafted iridescent arabesques surrounded by tiny silver metals. It was in turn made with thousands of crystal beads and litmus swarovski surrounded by silver beads. It also has a tail.

The final Miss Universe pageant will be held next Saturday at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. It will be broadcast on Wapa from 21:00.
