Tens of thousands of people in Thailand are affected by flooding caused by heavy rains in the country's far south, authorities said on Monday.
At least a dozen schools in Yala and Narathiwat provinces were forced to close, and some roads and railway lines were disrupted.
Images taken in the remote area show homes and businesses submerged by brownish water and residents taking shelter on upper floors.
Heavy rain has also caused damage at sea, with at least seven boats sinking in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea since Friday.
The kingdom's state railway said the sinking of the tracks meant trains en route to the Malaysian border were stopping in the town of Yala, 100 kilometers to the north.
Authorities have warned the population of these provinces to be ready to evacuate if flooding worsens.
