“That would drive me crazy”: Customers go to a breakfast restaurant and order scrambled eggs. There's just one problem: The Daily Dot

A waitress revealed her brunch horror story in a skit after some customers tried to order scrambled eggs at a restaurant.

The video featured TikTok user Syd (@poorandhungry), who posts sketches about restaurant life to her 256,000 followers. In her latest TikTok, she recreates an interaction at a “brunch spot” she works at, taking on the roles of both waiter and customer.

“Hello guys. Thank you for coming to the brunch place, which has a really disgusting menu that our customers don't like and have constant problems with,” she begins. “What can I start for you today? “

As a customer, Syd orders bacon, toast and scrambled eggs. This immediately causes a problem.

“Everything is prepared in the oven,” she says as a waitress. She then explains that the owner, who was sitting at another table nearby, strictly forbids scrambled eggs in the restaurant.

However, she says the restaurant could make eggs “any other way on the planet.” After the customer diligently orders the eggs, the waiter approaches the owner of the restaurant to take his order.

She hit a curve ball.

“Yes, hello, um, there are seven of us. We’re going to make all seven scrambled eggs,” the owner tells Syd. Syd's confusion irritates the owner, but his contradictory answer confuses her even more when she asks if the menu now says scrambled eggs.

“No, you've been here for three years, you know we don't do scrambled eggs. However, we make scrambled eggs,” says the owner.

To appease the other customers who want scrambled eggs, Syd asks if she could order eight scrambled eggs instead.

“My goodness, can you bring Brad here?” the owner says angrily. “Because it’s obviously necessary to do more training.”

The video ends with the waiter repeating a mantra: “I love my job.”

Syd expresses her frustration in the caption, writing, “We love an owner who makes rules that he breaks in front of his customers.”

The Daily Dot reached out to Syd via TikTok comments and direct messages. The video racked up over 852,000 views on Monday and left viewers confused as they recounted what they would have done in the server's place.

“That would drive me crazy. clock out forever!” wrote one viewer.

“When the owner said you knew we didn't do that here… I'd say, yeah right, you can't order it,” shared a second.

“I would have immediately gone back to the other table and told them what he just said,” remarked a third.

Additionally, others revealed their similar experiences with hypocrisy.

“My ex-employer was like that. They want everything the way they want it, but not for the restaurant,” said one user.

“That happened to me. There were no burgers after 5pm, 5 burgers walked past me to a table…the waitress apologized to me because they were the owners,” a second commented.
