That’s when Ukrainian jet ski commandos set off on a daring attack that struck at the heart of Putin’s naval stronghold in occupied Crimea

Dramatic footage shows the moment Ukrainian commandos on jet skis launched a daring raid on a military base in occupied Crimea – the heart of Vladimir Putin’s naval stronghold.
After traveling 125 miles by sea from the nearest Ukrainian-controlled territory, twenty members of the Brotherhood Battalion boarded jet skis armed with guns, grenades and rockets.
A month of training and preparation went into the bold mission to take out a Russian naval headquarters before the troops departed under the cover of darkness in August.
The video shows the top team of combat swimmers revving their engines as they prepare to attack a powerful electronic warfare station that has jammed Kiev’s missiles and jammed GPS systems.
Their landing made them the first Ukrainian soldiers to set foot on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula in nearly a decade.
The group’s commander said the weather was on their side, giving the troops early morning cloud cover before the sun shone on them as they raced back to safety

The special forces had to rely on the stars to navigate the waters surrounding the peninsula.
As they neared their target, Ukrainian support ships on the other side of the peninsula machine-gunned the enemy to provide cover for the covert operation.
Incredibly, all of the men involved in the seemingly impossible mission made it out alive, according to the battalion commander, who called the operation a “miracle.”

“We decided to simply destroy the control center remotely with anti-tank weapons, damage the antennas and retreat, which we succeeded in doing,” a commander named Borghese told the Times.
Levan said that with the help of Ukraine’s Western partners, his battalion is now prepared to conduct more operations of this kind.

“We now have the means to plan and carry out even larger operations. “There is much more to come.”
The bombing of the Russian fortress was one of a series of attacks by Kiev forces on Crimea in recent weeks, turning a Russian safe haven into an active battlefield.
A devastating missile attack on Putin’s Black Sea Fleet headquarters was among the most significant of the entire war.
According to the Ukrainian special forces, 61-year-old Admiral Viktor Sokolov, commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, and a total of 34 officers were killed and 105 injured in the attack.
