Where do they live, how do millionaires live? It’s definitely not in there Brazilaccording to the ranking by investment migration firm Henley & Partners in partnership with asset intelligence firm New World Wealth, showing the ten most populated cities richer of the world.

When it comes to the number of resident millionaires, USA It is China dominate the list while only one European city, Londonis part of the ranking 2023 (19) published this Wednesday.

The city of new York takes the crown with 340,000 millionaires, while two other US wealth centers the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles rank #3 and #6 with 285,000 and 205,400 wealthy residents, respectively.

The survey considers wealthy to be those who have more than US$1 million (R$4.9 million) to invest.

Tokyowhich led the field for ten years, has slipped to No. 2 with 290,300 millionaires, and London, the richest city in the world for many years, has slipped to No. 4 with 258,000.

Singapore, widely regarded as the world’s most businessfriendly city and a top destination for millionaires, ranks 5th with 240,100 millionaires, while Sydney ranks 10th with 126,900 millionaires.

Home to one of the most exclusive areas in the world, Sydney has experienced particularly strong wealth growth over the past 20 years and is expected to rank in the top 5 richest cities in the world by 2040.

USA and China are vying for a millionaireS

Economic rivals the USA and China also compete for the number of the world’s richest inhabitants and dominate the list of the 10 cities that have grown the most in this respect in the last decade.

One of China’s most popular vacation spots, Hangzhou, tops the charts in this regard with a 105% millionaire growth between 2012 and 2022.

The hightech capital of Shenzhen and the port city of Guangzhou have also grown significantly over the past decade, at 98% and 86% respectively.

The three fastest growing US millionaire hotspots are Austin at 102%, West Palm Beach at 90% and Scottsdale at 88%.

Asia Pacific is gaining ground

China has three cities in the top 10: Hong Kong with 129,500 millionaires; Beijing with 128,200; and Shanghai with 127,200 in places 7, 8 and 9.

Beijing and Shanghai have risen in the rankings over the past decade, but Hong Kong has slipped, falling from 4th in 2012 to 7th today.

India has two cities in the top 10 Bengaluru and Hyderabad, while Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is fast becoming Asia’s next great hub of prosperity.
