A 38-year-old bride whose hair turned gray when she was just 16 has gone viral after going her natural color on her wedding day.
Kadeja Jackson and her husband Derrick Baker tied the knot on June 26 – 20 years after they met – at a wedding at the Hotel Colonnade in Coral Gables in Miami, Florida.
Makeup artist Tia Codrington — who is known on social media as @mua_ttt_tia — shared a behind-the-scenes video of Jackson’s bridal glam on TikTok last week, which has garnered more than 1.3 million views and many compliments on her hair has collected.
“I was completely unprepared. I see myself every day so it’s not a big deal,” the regional manager told Insider of the surprising reaction to her natural color.

Codrington explained in the video’s on-screen caption that Jackson started going gray when she was 16 and said she loves her natural color.
“I love the girls who are sticking to their roots,” she added in the caption.
Thousands of people agreed, sending Jackson a message to ask questions about her hair, which Martine Saintval had styled in old Hollywood-inspired finger waves and adorned with crystal hairpieces.
After the ceremony, Jackson’s long hair was pulled down and styled into loose curls before hitting the dance floor with her husband.

Some wanted to know what motivated her to grow out her gray strands, while others took inspiration from how she embraced her natural hair — especially on her wedding day.
Jackson told Insider that she’s not always comfortable with her graying hair and spent years dying it before deciding seven years ago there was no point — her roots “would still turn gray.”
She explained that accepting your natural color “is empowering because you feel comfortable being yourself.”
The mom, who shares two sons with her husband, added that people were asking her about her hair long before it went viral on TikTok.

“I get stopped so many times a day and people ask me what hair color I use,” she said. “I say, ‘I don’t use hair dye. That’s my hair.”

“Her hair is everything,” one person commented, while another added, “She’s gorgeous! I cried right away with her! Nice.’
