When do the Black Friday deals start?
While there were plenty of early deals available in the week leading up to Black Friday, the biggest savings are live now. Retailers like Amazon, J.Crew, and Best Buy are currently offering discounts on some gift-worthy items.
When is Black Friday 2023?
Black Friday officially falls on November 24th this year. It marks the start of Cyber Week, which lasts until the following Friday. However, the most notable deals are usually available on Black Friday and Cyber Monday themselves.
Are Black Friday offers only available on Friday?
Short answer: It depends on where you shop. Some brands offer Black Friday deals only for 24 hours on the holiday itself, while others extend their discounts through Cyber Monday (and beyond). However, if you spot a discount on Black Friday, we recommend you grab it while you can, as there’s no guarantee it’ll still be discounted and in stock after November 24th.
Do you really get better deals on Black Friday?
In general, yes. Many retailers reserve their absolute lowest prices of the year for Black Friday, and for some, it’s one of the only sales they ever offer. On Black Friday, you’ll generally see all-time low prices on everything from Apple devices to mattresses to clothing. However, there’s a chance that some items will go on sale at the same prices we’ve seen at other events (like Prime Day). So be sure to do your research if you want to get a record low price.
Our tips for shopping this year’s Black Friday deals
Black Friday offers tempting discounts in almost every category, from TVs and smart home devices to clothing and toys. However, it can be difficult to know which deals are actually worth adding to your cart. Here, our senior deals editor Kara Cuzzone has compiled her advice on how to find the best deals – and avoid overspending.
Conduct price development research
Sometimes retailers mark up the original prices of items to make their Black Friday deals look better than they actually are. To avoid being deceived, use a price history tracking site such as CamelCamelCamel or last year’s Black Friday price from Google for the item you are interested in. Both methods give you the certainty that you are really getting a good deal.
Make a shopping list in advance
With just about every brand you’ve ever heard of offering a sale, it’s easy to go on a big Black Friday shopping spree and end up buying products you don’t really need. By making a shopping list in advance, you’ll know exactly what you’re looking for and will be less tempted to make a lot of impulse purchases. (Psst: You can still do this for Cyber Monday.)
Shop early
Black Friday has evolved into a multi-day event, with many brands extending their offers through Cyber Monday (and beyond). But the absolute best deals tend to hit the market around midnight on Black Friday – and sometimes they’re sold out before the day is even over. So if you shop on the morning of November 24th, you’ll probably have the best selection of deals.
Consider any expensive items you may need to replace soon
If you need to replace your mattress, laptop, TV, or refrigerator in the next few months, consider getting one on Black Friday. High-priced items tend to fetch their lowest prices of the year during this time. So biting the bullet now could save you some money in the long run.
Stock up on personal care essentials
Black Friday is a great time to order a few extra bottles of your favorite skin care products, hair care products, and toothpaste. Most brands are hosting some sort of sitewide sale for the holidays, and you’ll likely see personal care products on sale at Amazon, Target, and Walmart.
