The 65-year-old Swede spoke about this in an interview with American journalist Graham Bensinger.
The comedian said that a first tumor on his kidney was discovered in 2015 and that he was in remission for some time after the treatment.
But in 2020, the disease made a comeback, spreading to his lungs, spine, liver and stomach.
“It was at that point that I really realized it was something serious,” he told the show’s In Depth with Graham Bensinger.
Dolph Lundgren said he met with several doctors and found a treatment that significantly reduced the size of the tumors.
“The prognosis has improved significantly. I hope that the medication I continue to take will remove whatever is left.”
The actor, who we also saw in the film series “The Sacrifices” or in “Aquaman”, marveled at the onset of his cancer and his use of steroids in the 1980s.
“I used it in the 1980s, 1990s (…) I thought back on it and said to myself that I must have made a mistake. I think there might be a connection between these testosterone treatments and cancer.”
Lundgren also returned to his relationship with his partner Emma Krokdal, who is 40 years his junior.
“I think Emma is very mature for her age. She had a very interesting life, she comes from a small town in Norway. She got married there and went through a difficult divorce (…) I was with people who were twice her age and who didn’t have her maturity.
