The Alouettes’ 7th pick is returning from the NFL

After reaching an agreement the previous day with the Montreal Alouettes, who picked him seventh in the CFL’s final draft, Lwal Uguak attended a first practice session with the team in Trois-Rivières on Thursday.

The defensive lineman is back from NFL rookie minicamps after attending those of the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons.

“I received very good comments,” he told the media. I learned a lot, especially about positioning details. I use my hands better.

The 1.90 meter tall behemoth, who hails from Edmonton, finished his NCAA career in 2022 at the University of Connecticut with a total of 10 tackles in 14 games.

Uguak is having to adjust to Canadian football but arrives in good spirits, according to head coach Jason Maas.

“There will be an adjustment period for him, he ends up three or four days behind everyone else,” admitted the Sparrows driver. But I love his attitude. He’s not afraid to get involved. From his very first team meeting, he was asking questions.

“He will be an impact player. We can have him with us during camp. “It’s a big win,” said defender Marc-Antoine Dequoy.

The Alouettes will play an intra-team game at the Diablos stadium in Trois-Rivières on Saturday at 3pm. They then play preseason games on May 26 and June 2 before starting their season on June 10 against the Ottawa Redblacks in Montreal.
