The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer teases an epic battle involving Kang the Conqueror

Marvel Studios has released the new trailer and poster for the highly anticipated Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, offering a first look at MODOK, who appears to be played by Corey Stoll, who played Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man film.

Paul Rudd returns as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man alongside Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne aka The Wasp, while Johnathan Majors plays Kang the Conqueror after making his MCU debut in 2021’s Loki.

The trailer debuted at the end of the third quarter of the college football championship game, which aired Monday night on ABC, just hours after Paul Rudd and others were spotted filming retakes in Los Angeles.

The trailer begins with footage of Scott walking through his hometown of San Francisco as we hear Kang say, “You’re an interesting man, Scott Lang.”

“You’re an Avenger,” he continues as we watch footage of Scott and Hope, dressed to the nines, walking a red carpet.

“You have a daughter,” Kang adds as we see Scott stare painfully at a call from his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton), though Kang adds, “but you’ve wasted a lot of time, as have I.”

Watching their device fail, the Langs and Van Dynes take them to the quantum realm, while Kang adds, “We can help each other with that.”

Scott asks, “Who are you?” as we see Kang approach and tell him, “I’m the man who can give you what you want… time.”

We get another glimpse into the quantum realm when Hope’s mother, Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), adds, “He can rewrite existence and shatter timelines,” while we see a shot of two Scotts facing each other.

Janet exclaims, “You can’t trust him,” though Scott adds, “I don’t care who this guy is, I’ve just lost so much,” while we see a shot of a much younger Cassie running at Scott and yells, “Daddy! ‘

“He can give us a second chance,” Scott says, as Kang says, “Let me make it easy for you. You will bring me what I need or all you call life will end.”

A tearful Cassie — who built the device that sent them all to the quantum realm — says, “It’s all my fault,” while Kang tells Scott, “You might not want her to see that.”

An angry Scott insists “We had a deal” as he starts fighting Kang, while we get a very brief look at MODOK, a 1967 Marvel Comics character.

The character’s name is an acronym for Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing, and while this hasn’t been confirmed yet, a look at an unmasked MODOK in the trailer seems to reveal that Corey Stoll will be playing the character.

The trailer ends in dramatic fashion with an angry Kang saying, “You thought you could win?” before bringing down his boot and smashing Ant-Man’s helmet.

“I don’t have to win,” says a helmetless Scott, before continuing the fight, adding cryptically, “We both just have to lose.”

The trailer ends with Cassie screaming for her father and telling Scott, “I’m sorry, Cassie!” before Kang emits purple energy blasts from his hands as the trailer comes to an end.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which also stars Michael Douglas, Bill Murray, William Jackson Harper and Randall Park, hits theaters February 17.
